 internship  in Kalaripayattu under the supervision of martial arts teachers
 in South india.The programme exhaustively deals with training and practical 
 aspects of Kalaripayattu.
 
KALARIPAYATTU
 
The unique qualities of Kalaripayattu such as mental and body strength, its unarmed self-defense techniques, consciousness of space and time, agility and forward rushing martial art techniques draws martial artists world over to Kalaripayattu. Kalaripayattu is becoming popular in Europe and number of artists are flocking the kalaries in Kerala to get training.
 
Kalaripayattu is believed to be the fore-runner of many Martial arts such as Judo, Karate and Tae-kwon-do. Perhaps Kalaripayattu is the oldest form of martial art still practiced in the world even after the advent of Judo, Karate and Tae-kwon-do and other forms. In earlier times Kalaripayattu was practiced as a fighting skill by the warriors in the armies of the Kings and Warlords of Kerala.
 
The fighting rink is the theatre where the disciple of Kalaripayattu display their combating skill. Kalaripayattu martial art is also practiced by dancers as it helps them to build physical flexibility and agility.
 
Kalaripayattu is closely associated with yoga and Ayurveda. The disciple of the martial art of Kalaripayattu does the smooth flowing exercises of yoga to flex his muscles before going on to practicing the more energetic fighting routines of Kalaripayattu. Massage with ayurvedic oils is an important part of the Kalaripayattu routine. This martial art form has special cure for arthritis, broken bones and joints. Kalaripayattu martial art helps to systemize the flow of energy in the body.

Kalaripayattu martial art encompasses an invigorating Ayurvedic herbal treat-
  ment for chronic ailments like arthritis and spondylitis and a massaging therapy
    which repairs physiological damages and helps the body stay young and supple.
 
 The different stages in the training process of a disciple of the Kalaripayattu  martial art are:
 
1 Melthari (Body Control)
2 Kolthari (Training with wooden sticks)
3 Ankathari (metallic and heavy wooden weapons)
4 Verumkaiprayogam(unarmed combat)

 Eligibility
 
 Should be able to speak English. Candidates should be physically fit and must  know basics of any other forms of martial arts (karate, judo..)

  Basics of Kalaripayattu, Practice in Melthari, Kolthari, Ankathari, Verumkaiprayogam. Study on co- relation of Kalaripayattu,yoga and ayurveda.
 
 Travel and living
 
Students should arrange and pay for their travel to India.  The fee of the course includes accomodation only, all the other expenses has to be met by the students.
 
 Application process
 
 * Either written,typed or online application.
 
 * Four photographs for admission process.
 
 * Fitness certificate issued by a qualified doctor.
 
 If application is approved internship admission intimation will be send to the  students. On reaching India and before the commencement of the course the  students are required to pay the course fee.
